It happens to the best of us, going through files on your computer or external drive, cleaning folders, and then, you accidentally deleted something you actually needed. Don’t panic. There are a few things you can try to recover your files. First, start by checking the Trash Folder. Often, when a file is deleted, it is first moved to the Trash folder. If you see your file there, you can drag it to your desktop, or right click (or tap with two fingers if using a Macbook) and select “Put Back”. That should move the file back to your drive.

How To Use SecureRecovery® For Mac

Step 1. Download and Install the Software
Download the program to a separate drive. Not the one that you are trying to recover.
Once installed launch the app and accept the alert saking for permission to access files on any removable media.
Step 2. Enter License Key or Choose Demo
At this step you can enter your license key if you have purchased the full version. If you don’t have a license key, select the Demo. Keep in mind that the Demo version can only recover a small amount of data, but I can still give you an idea for which files can be recovered with the full version.
Step 3. Choose Which Drive To Recover
Next you will be prompted to choose which drive you want to recover. You should see a list of all the drives seen by your machine. Choose a drive and click Next.
Step 4. Set Scan Options
Here you can choose how you want the program to scan the drive for files. A Quick Scan should work for most. Use Full Scan if the files you need to recover were not found with the Quick Scan. The Full Scan will take a bit longer but it will thoroughly scan each folder and directory. Once you’ve choosen an option click Next.
Step 5. Choose Which Files to Recover
On the next screen, you’ll see a list of all the files and folders SecureRecovery for Mac found. Here you can choose which files you’d like to recover. Next to the file name, you will see the probability of the recovery, file size, and more data. Select the files you’d like to recover and click Next.
Step 6. Choose the destination folder for the recovered files
Here you can choose the destination folder for the recovered files and choose the appropriate overwrite option. To choose a folder click [...] next to the “Output folder” field. Once your are finished, click Recover.
Once the Recovery is Complete You Will See a Success Message
The program lets you know how many files were recovered successfully. Now you can head over to the destination folder you chose in Step 6 to see your files.
